Pieter Kemink (1952–2024)
It is with greatest sadness that we inform you of the passing of Pieter Kemink on 20 February 2024.
Pieter was technical specialist of the ceramic workshop at the Rijksakademie from 1998 till 2012. We remember his tireless and experimental attitude to make the best of the artists' works at the Rijksakademie.
After leaving the Rijksakademie, he started Le Maupas A.I.R., a residency and production facility for ceramists, in France. In the years that followed, numerous artists – including many alumni who knew him from their time at the Rijksakademie – travelled to France to work on projects under his inspired guidance.
His knowledge of and love for ceramics was invaluable and we will miss him greatly.
Our deepest sympathies are with Iet, Kallista and further family and friends.
