Daniel Aguilar Ruvalcaba (México, 1988). I’m a visual artist. I do drawings, collages, videos, sculptures, texts and many other stuff. I like to read and research about topics that most of the time I don’t understand well but that are challenging to me. The notion of “baroque economies”, a concept by the thinker Verónica Gago is fundamental to what I’m doing right now. The artworks I like to do are long-term, sometimes takes me 2 years to finally decide to start them (lol) and to finish them maybe an other 2 years. But in the meantime I do creepy cute drawings and many other little things just for fun.
Currently I’m a member of different collective art initiatives like the non-profit art space Biquini Wax EPS (MX), the production house El Colegio de la (des)extinción (MX-NL) and the jamming band Tropical Tap Water (NL).
During my residency at the Rijksakademie I’m trying to produce a smoking mirror.
My website is under construction.
Open Archive is an extensive collection of documentation of the resident’s work, our public programme and other Rijksakademie related events. You can filter by tag.
